Forever Session in Manhattan , KS

admin

This last Sunday (August 29, 2010) I had the pleasure of documenting the love that this awesomely beautiful couple have for each other. I had a blast capturing the images of this cute couple, especially on the Aggieville area. These are a few previews of the images I took. You can view some more at my Facebook page.

Photographers never get to go on vacations!

admin

This past August 11, 2010, me and my wife got on a plane to Puerto Rico to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. And what would have been a relaxing time while enjoying the beautiful vistas and beaches in the island turned out to be something much more different. Ten (10) days we stayed on the island and we tried to accommodate our families into that time frame (but 10 days is not enough time when you have a huge family), and at the same time we tried to have some “tourist” time of our own. The first 3 days I didn’t even turned on my camera because I knew that once I flicked the switch I would be glued to it, so instead I tried to view my surroundings without a viewfinder. Sort of like viewing everything in the RAW (no pun intended). But after that I couldn’t refrain myself to grab that piece of mechanical wonder that has been attached to my hand for more than I can remember. To take pictures and “document” our little trip. And so we went into different places. Ate a lot of different foods and enjoyed ourselves while taking images of what we where doing. But since I am the only professional photographer in the family it was my duty (more like “obligation”) to take pictures of the new members of the family (3 babies), the ones who where not that new anymore (2 kids) and a new addition to the furry side of the family (1 chihuahua), not to mention whatever grabbed my interest be it kids, babies, families, pets, etc. Here are a few images of these marvelous photo sessions. Some took 15 minutes, others took a lot more, but I had a blast in each and everyone.

This addition on my side of the family is called Keilianis Marie (I hope I spelled that correctly). Isn’t she gorgeous!

This addition on my wife’s side of the family is called Dylan. A stud in the making!

Now this is my nephew D.J. and Peluche.

This is my niece Laura. She begged me to take her pictures (not that I needed begging anyways!)

And this is Kayla. One of my wife’s best friend’s daughter.

Livana Sophia. My sister’s new chihuahua!

But our vacation time did not only take us to see family members and friends. Like I said earlier, we traveled throught Puerto Rico and knowing what a beautiful place it is I had to take my camera and snap a few pictures. And here are some images of those days.

These 3 are from the Parque Las Cavernas del Rio Camuy. We where inside of this Cave system for about an hour (walking) and it is AWESOME. On the first image you can see that the ceiling is really high (you can fit a 15 story building inside of the cave). After that we had plenty of spare time so we went to the Arecibo Observatory (about 20 min drive from the caves). It is home to The Largest and most Sensitive Radio Telescope in the world (more info here). It has been featured in a couple of movies (Goldeneye, Contact, The Losers) and you have to see it to believe it. Here are a few images of it.

These are the stairs to get to it. I was so tired when we got to the top but the view is so much worth it!

This is one of the three concrete towers that hold the middle portion suspended on top of the “dish”.

It has a little “museum” type area where you can find lots of info on “space stuff”.

And here is the dish. It doesn’t look that big, right?

Here are some workers going to the platform. Now it looks big!

But the day didn’t end there. We went to the southwest of the island because I NEEDED to go see and, most importantly, take pictures of the Los Morrillos Lighthouse in Cabo Rojo. It is one of the most amazing and beautiful places I have ever seen in my life. The images I took don’t even start to give the place justice to how amazing it is. But here are some:

The weather was not helping me,and it also didn’t help that when I got there the sun was already down (missed it by 5 minutes). I would have loved to take a picture of the sunset.

And after a couple of days we went to Old San Juan mainly to buy souvenirs to take back home but we couldn’t stop ourselves from visiting the San Cristobal and San Felipe del Morro Forts. They are magnificent, everything from the construction, to how everything was set up is amazing. I can’t even imagine what could the people that made them do if they had modern (as in right now) equipment. And here are a few images of the forts:

A tunnel-like corridor inside of San Cristobal.

This is how light got into the corridor.

I loved how the arches looked!

Shaved ice! MMMMM! Refreshing!

Yes! We had to walk all the way there. But the Sea Breeze is quite great on this walkway!

This is the entry way. It looks kind of “Spanish” right?

It is quite big. This is only part of a level (and it has 6 levels).

The San Felipe del Morro fort also serves as a lighthouse.

And that was pretty much it.  If you want to see more images you can, just go over to our gallery page on www.kennethrodriguezphoto.com or Facebook. We had a great time on Puerto Rico (not counting the traffic which is killer). Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the stuff that I didn’t get to like El Yunque Rain forest and El Parque de las Ciencias (Science Park). But the trip back home was amazing too and I have the images to prove it:

Take off at Puerto Rico.

Landing at Dallas!

37,000 feet in the air on our way to Manhattan.

One amazing sunset!

And that was our vacation time over in Puerto Rico. And that is why Photographers don’t get to go on vacations, because when we are on “vacation” we can’t put the camera down.

Little Footprints – E.

admin

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing one of the cutest and photogenic baby ever. 4 hours, 5 outfit changes, and 3 locations later we finished the session. Not because the baby was tired but because it was getting a little too hot outside.

I was so tired afterwards, worse than when I finish photographing a wedding. But babies need a lot of attention and this baby was so cute that I couldn’t stop myself from taking pictures. Also taking pictures of a baby is no easy work, but this particular baby girl was worth it.

Here is an image of the photo session:

The whole set can be found over HERE

Forever in Love – K & A

admin

This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking the pictures of one of the most awesome couples in the world, Kandice and Anthony. I sincerely had a blast, and they rocked the photo session like true rockstars. Even tought it was a hot afternoon we made it work and got some great images. Regretfully they couldn’t bring the dogs out to play because of the hot weather, but we had to leave something for the next photo session, right? (which I can’t wait for). Here are some of the images from that day:

To all photography lovers out there!

admin

This coming 24th of July is the Third Annual Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk, and we are having one in Manhattan, Kansas. For those of you that are wondering what is this “Worldwide Photowalk” , well it’s a social photography event where photographers get together (usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town) to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. Last year I participated in the Photowalk in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, and since I had a GREAT TIME meeting photographers and just hanging out and having lots of fun while taking pictures, I decided that we needed one Photowalk in every city, and that is why Manhattan, KS has their own photowalk.

This is an event not just for professional photographers, this is an event for people that love photography. It doesn’t matter what type of camera you have, it can be a DSLR, a Point & Shoot, even your cellphone, as long as you are having fun while taking a picture you are sure welcome to join us!. To “register” for the walk (and participate in the contest) just go to: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/manhattan-ks-united-states/. Then if you want you can participate in the “photo contest”. The winning image from the group will receive their choice of The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book for Digital Photographers or The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers, and will also be in the running for the Grand Prize!

And since every blog post is better with images on it here are a few from last year’s photowalk:

This last image was the winner of our Old San Juan Photowalk.

One long and amazing Shop Talk!

admin

Last Saturday I had he pleasure off hanging out with a couple of photographers from the area to take some pictures of two couples and one 15 year old girl. And I really and genuinely had an awesome time. I don’t know if it is the chemistry between the photographers, or the beautiful models we had for the shoot, or the amazing location that Kim Kravitz took us to, but it was absolutely amazing. The location was amazing, a lot of variety in backgrounds and scenery. There were 12 of us, and I don’t think that anyone took the same or similar image.

And the models were great. But let the images talk by themselves.

Stephanie Moutz

Danta & Barry Simonsen

 Elizabeth & Gerrick Teague

Thanks again to all those that participated and to those who make these type of get togethers a great and fun way of getting to know each other and share our knowledge.

Spread the word!

admin

So the summer is here and what better time to take your portraits than in this beautiful weather. Blue skies, cool breeze, and lots of great colorful scenery all around. Also with it comes a change in the pricing structure here at Kenneth Rodriguez Photography. I used to charge the same way as I did in Puerto Rico. But with time I have come to understand that not two places are alike, so the prices have to change. I think that our new pricing structure is better suited for how things are run here in Kansas. You can check all of our prices over at the investment link on our main page, from weddings to modeling and everything in between, we are the best choice you can have.  So make sure to spread the word and let people know that we can’t be beat.

And since every blog post should be accompanied by a picture, here is one of me and my staff here at Kenneth Rodriguez Photography.

Little Footprints Session in Manhattan KS

admin

Last Saturday I had the privilege of taking images of this beautiful family. It all started as a Little Footprints Session (Newborns, Children, Infants) and rapidly turned into a Our Family Session (Family). But let me tell you that this has been one of the funnest sessions I have done in a while.

Usually with babies and little children we photographers plan ahead because they don’t stand still and we have to be prepared to take the perfect portrait picture. Also we can’t tell them where to look or how to pose, and if they are hungry they will need a little break to have their bottle of milk or change of diapers if the need comes up. But with this kid nothing happened, he didn’t cry, he didn’t need a change of diapers, he was AWESOME. I think that he even enjoyed it more than me, and that is a lot to say.

And to say that the day was perfect is an understatement. Well not that perfect seeing as how we are moving from spring to summer it was a little hot, but nothing that the cool breeze that was blowing could not remedy. Blue skies, cool shade, green grass. It was a perfect day to take pictures.

Here are some images that I took that day, there are a lot more, a lot more.
